One of the toughest jobs I perform at Cherokee Village Resort is
digging. This may take the form of deep holes for posts in fence building or long trenches for electrical/sewer
lines for new additions as well as french drains where needed. Mind you, a real professional comes in to do
the lines but if the trench is there for them already, a lot of money can be saved. The last thing one needs is
to pay a plumber's or electrician's rates on such chores. The area is very rocky and therefore one usually hits bedrock
very early in the process. The one plus in these tasks is the occasional fossil that is found along the way.
Artifact hunting is another love of mine
and having access to privately owned land here and via friends around the lake means that I can find, and actually keep, early
man artifacts that remain from old campsites. This page is here to share some of these finds with you.
